We have three first generation Mac Mini's here at work (a TV station), running Streambox monitoring remote transmitter sites. They were set up years ago by non-mac people and have just been running ever since, never having any disk maintenance done on them.
One recently stopped working and was brought into our maintenance shop. I found that it was running 10.3.8 or something like that. I connected it to the web and did some software updates and repaired the permissions.
It seems to boot up off of the hard drive better now, but I can't get it to boot off of a system disc (retail version of 10.3, disc 1) but I can get it to boot off of Disk Warrior. However, Disc Warrior doesn't seem to have enough memory to do it's tasks and stops repairing about half way through the process. We do plan to add some more memory (it's got one 256 k stick!) but I'd like to run both Disk Warrior and Disk Utility to repair anything that is wrong with the hard drive.
Any ideas about how to get it to boot off of a system disc better?
