I am getting ready to sell my iMac, which i purchased in 2009. It is the top of the line for that year, with 3.06 GHz processor, Intel Core Duo, 1 terabite HD, 4 GB memory. It is in immaculate condition, having only been used one of the two years of ownership because I was traveling the rest of the time. I purchased the 3 year Applecare warranty which has about 10 months remaining.

I would like to be realistic about the value so I do not over or underprice it. I have been checking eBay and Craigslist, but have seen very few of the same model and year for comparison. Any insights will be appreciated.
BTW, I tried posting this in the Marketplace forum, but was not allowed for some reason I have not yet been able to determine. I am new to this forum and do not completely understand the protocols.

The last G5 iMacs were sold in February of 2006.

The G5 is a processor, not a machine generation.

What makes you think that?

I explained that he does not, in fact, have a G5 iMac, and answered his question by showing him where to find out how much it's worth.

Hi Ron,

The marketplace only lets members with 100 posts start threads, to prevent spammers etc.

Sounds like a good imac. What are you upgrading to?

Welcome!

My bad. I didn't see the other thread about him thinking it was a G5 iMac.

I am changing over to a MacBook Pro because I will be traveling for 8 months. I appreciate Spheric Harlot for correcting my labeling mistake. My edit was immediate so as to correct the description. And thanks to andi*pandi for the warm welcome and explanation for the post rejection in the Marketplace. I have been informed that in the absence of using that forum, that this is the appropriate place to post the inquiry. Speaking of which, does anyone have some insights into reasonable, appropriate pricing for my iMac? I am going to advertise it on Craigslist locally, because I only do local transactions; so rest assured this is not a "feeler" as has been described to me by the administrator.

Have you checked the Mac2Sell site? That will give you a pretty good idea.

Thanks for the the Mac2Sell site information. They have a cool calculator there that gives you the approximate value of your computer in different currencies . It said that my iMac model is valued at $1,020. Thanks again everyone.
