Good article, I'm all for encouraging people to reuse old kit where they can. I would offer a couple of bits of advice:
Most people would not consider upgrading the hard drive in an eMac easy. Its not technically difficult but if you touch the wrong part of a CRT without discharging properly first it can send you flying (literally). You might want to hunt around for an Apple Service Manual to get an idea of how seriously Apple took this issue, even when dealing with their trained technicians. I see you added a warning/disclaimer to your article about this, but leaving it unplugged for 12 hours is NOT the safest way to do it. Its safer than working on it immediately after unplugging it but a CRT can retain charge for days or even weeks.
Also I'm not sure your assertion that buying a Mac with preinstalled software makes the licenses genuine and legal. Especially if they came from a college of some sort where they were likely purchased under an educational discount and/or site license which would definitely not cover resale. (I'm not saying I care, just providing information.)
I'm not trying to be a downer here, just trying to help you to not get sued.

Thanks for the advice.
I take your point on the hard disk, though I trust that people wouldn't be using that guide alone as instruction on how to do it. After all, it's not a guide on how to do it, I'm just showing that it's possible.
Similarly, I'm not sure on the technicalities of EULA's. But I always work on the basis that if it's been legitimately installed and sold to me as such, then I take it in good faith that it's legal. It would be the college that had broken the EULA by selling it to me, just as much as me for using it.
Thanks for the feedback though Much appreciated.
