Hi all,
I have a Dual 2.0 G5. Works very well. I put it to sleep every night so that I don't have to reopen all my browser windows, auto-login to iChat all the time, etc. It's very convenient. After about 2 weeks of doing this every day, my audio either drops completely, or it's very, very low. Anyone see this problem? I did a search and only came up with a buzz issue when waking all the time, but that's not this problem.

Haven't had that problem here.

Do you leave any audio programs open while making it sleep through the night ? I put mine to sleep every evening just like you, but I close all the programs I don't need, except sometimes Illustrator or so when I'm working on something that I have to resume the next day. But I always exit iTunes and the likes ... Just a thought.

edit : is it a Rev A ot B ? Maybe that's important ?

My Mac's schedule sounds very similar to yours, starman, and I have not had this issue. Could it be your external speakers? Or perhaps a recent software update? Can you get the sound back by changing the volume on the keyboard or through the Sound pane, or does it require a restart? I tried searching for the problem and came up with nothing.

Yes, it requires a restart (I should have mentioned that).

The only apps I leave open are Safari, iChat, Entourage, and maybe Photoshop or some small app I was using at the time. No audio apps.

I don't know what rev I have. I'll check when I get home.

starman, I have the same problem. I've got a stock dual 2.0 rev A with all the latest OS upgrades/patches with an extra Maxtor internal HD. Peripherals are a set of JBL Creature Speakers, Wacom tablet, D-Link bluetooth adapter, Formac Studio TVR hooked up to a DirecTV receiver, Epson Scanner, HP Printer, and a Contour Shuttle Pro. Do we have any in common?

I'll put the computer to sleep, and when I wake it the next day, the audio isn't totally gone, but it's very, very low. When I use the keyboard to turn up the volume, it goes up (though not quite as much as it should), and there is a strange grumble that comes through the subwoofer every time I volume +/-. It sounds like someone dragging a fingernail across an open microphone. It has happened with and without apps open. A restart fixes it. I've never been able to figure out why...
