I had done it… let's see if this works for you:
don't use Toast, use Disk Utility as follows…
- open it and insert the Leopard Upgrade DVD,
- the DVD disc is going to be shown at the left margin of Disk Utility window, clic on it, please note you have to clic on the disc labeled Mac OS X Upgrade DVD, not the disc with the name of the optical drive (which in my computer is HL-DT-ST…)
once you have the Mac OS X Upgrade DVD highlighted go to File --> New --> Disk Image from disk… as shown below,
then, once the options to save it are displayed, take care of making your choice as follows:
Image Format: DVD/CD master
Encryption: none
and hit Save, note the image is going be over 7 GB, so make sure your destination hard disk has free space available enough,
then a progress bar about the DVD image being created is shown, this is going to take some time no matter the computer since my guess is this relies on pure dvd optical drive speed… anyway, you have to see something like this…
once it's done, you only have to drag the Mac OS X Upgrade DVD.cdr disc to the left margin of Disk Utility window (it could be yet shown there automatically) and clic on it to select it, not to mount it,
finally, clic on the Burn icon, uncheck the option to verify data, insert a Dual Layer DVD disc, clic Burn and you are done.
