What G4? Almost all G4s have to have a specific power supply, so you can't use a PC power supply. Your best bet would be to have it in a noise isolating box.

You can use a PC power supply with a bit of electronics knowledge, but you lose the use of the ADC port unless you can find 24v from somewhere else.

I have a guide that I wrote up, it anyone's interested, as always, i'll email it to you.

if your just looking to make it quieter, you may want to invest in one of these: AcoustiLock

ok now i wrote to the link you post, becuse my main problem is the noise.

but it depends on how much does it cost.

in the oder hand i have to say that my computer model is

Power Mac G4
(Mirrored Drive Doors)
dual power pc 867 Mhz

it will be usefull if i can change the power supply because it is the problem, the fans dont generate to much noise the problem the power supply.

Unfortunately, my modification won't work on that G4 because it uses a non-standard form factor for the power supply.

I have a dual 1.25 FW800 MDD. It used to be the loudest thing ever. My PSU died and I bought a refurb from a company in the UK. The replacement is much quieter. It is a specific model for that PowerMac. I think it would be hard to find one the right shape to fit in the space, unless it was the right Apple part number. It might be worth looking around for a replacement PSU. You may find a company who can check and find you a quiet one. I don't think you will ever find a silent one though. These computers have a reputation as fairly noisy. The sound-proofed box may be a better bet if you need silence.

sites like xlr8yourmac have a lot about fan noise on G4 machines. If you are brave you can replace the fan in the existing power supply (don't get yourself fried!), as well as the case fan and cpu fan.
