It seems to me that the fan in my unit got louder with time. I never noticed it until the past few weeks. When the computer is working it's not bad, but when it goes into sleep mode or even when the screensaver pops up it get's pretty damn loud. Have any of you noticed this as well? Is it normal or should I be aware of something.

It could either be a lack of proper ventilation in the back, too warm ambient surroundings or improper fan calibration. Have you run the hardware test CD to see if it reports anything?

It should be included with the Mac. First thing to check is if all the vents are clean, however - just turn the machine off and vacuum them all out.

if vacuuming still doesn't work, download SMC fan control
