All of a sudden I have thin maybe 1 px. wide horizontal lines of various colors running through several apps ie. Firefox, MS Word, my Mail app and several others. I'm on a MacPro.

Any suggestions?

Inverter board or video card is dying. I have this on a couple of older iMacs. If it's under warranty you'll want to get it fixed.

Graphics card is fried, same happened to my iMac. Luckily you wont have to replace the logic board to rectify the situation.
