I have a broken Dual 1GHz QuickSilver G4. I don't know if it's the power supply, motherboard, or CPU. However, I have the opportunity to buy a working, single processor 933MHz QuickSilver for cheap.

Assuming the CPU from the broken QuckSilver is working, can I just install that onto the 933MHz motherboard?

In case anyone was wondering, yes, you can. The motherboards have the same Apple Service part number. I was able to swap CPUs.

Unfortunately it was the processor that was damaged, not the motherboard or PSU.

I hate when that happens. At least you have a 933 MHz CPU that is working.

Only cost $75 for the whole computer + 17" Apple ADC display. Wasn't a bad buy. I might turn around and sell it on Craigslist for what I bought it for, then just go for a G4 Cube. I forgot how loud they are.

This thread reminded me about how I have been looking for the last 5 years for a reasonably priced processor upgrade for my MDD. Even now that the G4 is generations out of date it is cheaper to buy a mac mini than a dual 1.8ghz upgrade.
13" MBP 4gb, 500gb; MDD 1.0ghz 1.5gb; 14" iBook G4; B&W G3.
