I have 4 drives installed in my Mac Pro.

1 & 2. Have OSX
3. Is a Data Drive
4. Is a Windows Drive

How do I get my Windows drive to not show up at boot. More so not try to be read by the OSX partition. Its a raptor drive (older) so its hot and loud. It will just keep searching if I don't "eject" it. Its really annoying...

This is just something I would like to know how to fix so I don't have to "eject" every time I restart my computer.

Thanks,
Damian

One possible answer - you could move the Windows drive to an external enclosure. With a separate power switch - turn the enclosure on only when you need it.

You can only set all drives to show on the desktop, or none, via finder preferences. You can't select drives on a case by case basis, which would be useful.

You can manually unmount individual drives using disk utility but they will mount back up on restart.

You can automate the dismount with a script of some sort.
