Let me tell you... the best thing I ever did. It's not truly a laptop until you can move it all over the house.
I'm loving this. If you haven't gotten a basestation, or even an airport card I definitely reccomend it. Airport cards are around 70 and basestaions (I got a netgear) are around the same after rebate.
Trust me... do this.

Congratulations! I've had AirPort for a few years now, and I couldn't imagine living without it!

Yeah, at first it was like "Do I really need wireless?" You know, it wasn't a necessity until you really use it.
Kinda like OS X

You're making AirPort sound like an addictive drug.

Exactly!! I remember when we got our first airport base at work. First thing I said was, what's the point??
then I tried it and when I realized that I could work outside of the building (it was summer time).. I never went back to the ethernet...

I, of course, couldnt live without wireless either. After getting an airport card for my dual-usb iBook, and then finding out that card would not work in my new 12"Powerbook G4, I decided I absolutely needed the airport extreme card. It is amazing, I have wireless at my office, and at home. I live across the street from a big park, so I am waiting for the summer, when I can chill outside and go online (ive done this already but it was a little cold out!)

Congrats man!!
I know precisely how you're feeling...just yesterday my 17" PB arrived and within 15 minutes (first time ever using a Mac outside of an Apple Store) I had my PB online wirelessly and my Wintel machine connected via wires to the net, AND they were talking to each other so I could swap files to and fro...talk about amazing! I was just running around the house with joy!
Again, nice going w/ the wireless, enjoy it!

SWORTHY
Why did you buy a NETgear Base station rather than a Airport Base Station?

I have a Pismo 400 with an airport card. I also have a Netgear 814 base station. Why the Netgear? because it was simply cheaper than the Apple Base Station. The only thing that sucks major ass on the Netgear is the tech support. Netgear (I assume in order to save $) funnels all of its tech support calls to India. I cant understand a damn word they say. Level two tech support is however based in SF.
Otherwise wireless internet rocks. Surfing the 'net outside or in your bedroom is good- but surfing in bathroom rules. Forget the newspaper!

Hi
Two words of caution though,
SECURE IT!
Wireless networks are usually extremaly easy to access, because people do not secure it by any means other than passwords. (often sent unencrypted)
And yes wireless is pure coolness :-)

and nice hotels...
once you go wireless you never go back.
it's like taking the blue pill
