My replacement 867MHz TiBook showed up today (I had a seemingly unrepairable issue with my origional system, so, after 3 trips to the repair center for the same problem, Apple opted to replace it.)... There were a few small things about my shipment which I thought some might find interesting:
1.) It was shipped directly from Taiwan to my office in Arizona (I thought perhaps it would have come from a US-based warehouse, rather than from one overseas... I'm sure it wasn't a cheap shipment for Apple; it came FedEx 2 day.) Perhaps this is due to an upcoming replacement for the 15" book?
2.) The paint, trackpad, and keyboard on this system have a very different (more coarse) texture than that of my origional 867MHz (I bought mine the day they were updated.).
3.) The system restore DVD was noted for the "15 inch PowerBook G4", rather than just the "PowerBook G4" as with my previous system.
4.) The LCD was QUITE uneven when the system was closed (the LCD seemed twisted and under a good deal of tension)... As dealing with Apple's repair service AGAIN is THE LAST thing I wanted to do, I found that it was quite easy to fix for myself... Essentially, all I did was close the lid, and then loosen the screws on the hinges and along the outside edge of the LCD... I then gently pushed everything down so that it was even, and re-tightened the screws (not too tight though!). Now my lid is almost perfectly even on either side when closed.
That's it... Mainly, I thought that some may find the uneven LCD "fix" helpful.

Also just noticed tonight that the power supply included with the new unit is about 1/2 the weight of the extra adapter I bought back when I purchased my origional PB

All of the current PowerBooks ship directly from Taiwan.

Wow... 4 times? That's BS.
I didn't really do anything above or beyond when dealing with Apple for my issue...
The main thing that contributed to the replacement, I think, was that on all 3 trips to the repair center, I had given on the phone to the techs I spoke to, and included with my system before sending it out, very clear documentation that would have allowed Apple to verify (within minutes) weather or not they had fixed the problem.
Each time my system came back from repair, I tested it, found it was not fixed, and immediately called to Apple again... I think all of this this, and the fact that my system was only about 3 months old are what motivated the replacement.
