Dear All,

Having jumped on the 17" bandwagon so many months ago that I have actually forgotten when it was, i have had ample time to sort out my accessories, even though the frickin machine still isnt bloody here!

As far as bags go, i am thinking of theTom Bihn Monolith. Have read some good stuff on it around the forums, but would like to hear more feedback and comments if you have any. I myself am a litle worried about the zippers scratchin the 17 " as it slides in and out. Can any users of the Monolith shed any light on this? Does/can the zipper scratch?

Secondly, was thinking of the Padded Snake Charmer for housing my D2 Lacie Studio drive. Is anyone using this bag? What do you think of it?

stay patient....i am patiently waiting.....still waiting:

Respects,

Ed

While I don't actually use them, I have seen both, and they are very nice. If you're into the design, the quality is there.

My favorite bag is the Waterfield Racer-X for 17". I had the 15" version for two years, and under some serious abuse, it looks like new. The design and quality is unmatched.

Seems pretty cheap to me, too.

I agree with Scott. There is nothing finer than a bag from www.sfbags.com.

I use the monolith for my 17", the laptop sits deep enough where the zipper doesn't really touch it. If it does on the side, I haven't seen any visable scratches as of yet.

My only concern is that there is no padding what so ever on the top of the laptop (because the zipper is there). So, should it fall and somehow flip over 180, it'd be toast. I plan on modifying the case to include a nylon wrapped foam flat on the top, which will fold down when zipped shut. Other than that, it's great, it fit my jansport backpack perfectly and looks very unassuming when i'm on the train.
