I know somebody knows this answer (and I think the answer is No). I have an old Powerbook G4 500Mhz and I upgraded the ram to 1G. I just bought a brand-new 1Ghz Powerbook and was wondering if I can transfer a portion of the RAM from the old PB to the new one. Thanks!

First of all, which PowerBook did you buy?

If my assumptions are correct, it's a yes! Even the newest TiBooks still use a SDR 133Mhz system/RAM bus, so I think you're good to go! The 17" PB & 12" PB, however, use DDR RAM, which in that case the answer would be no, but I'm next to postitive TiBook RAM can go into the newer TiBooks...anyone know for absolute sure though?

The 1-gigahertz, 15-inch PowerBook G4 requires PC-133 memory, but the 500-megahertz PowerBook G4 only needed PC-100 memory. PC-133 memory works in machines that only require PC-100 memory, but systems requiring PC-133 memory will not be able to use PC-100 memory modules. Only PC-133 SDRAM memory will work properly in your 1-gigahertz PowerBook G4. If you bought PC-133 memory to upgrade your 500-megahertz PowerBook, you will be able to use it in your 1-gigahertz PowerBook. If you upgraded your 500-megahertz PowerBook with PC-100 memory, you're out of luck. Memory is cheap these days. You can get 512 megabytes of PC-133 notebook memory for about $80.
