I am the proud owner of each machine. After considerable use with each, I must say that the 17 seems to ever-so-slightly eek out the 12 as far as precision build is concerned. While the differences in quality are very minor, one kind of bothers me. Does anyone else's 12" show this....

If you look down at the screen between the LCD and the aluminum surround, you can see the edge of the LCD glass, and it's brightly lit up. My 17" doesn't exhibit this, as the frame sits nice and tight to the LCD.

Thoughts?

i dont own a 12", but i've played with a few at stores and quickly noticed issues with the fitment of the grey plastic screen surround and the outer aluminum screen cover. not a huge deal, and this WAS on a display model, but seemed less-than-adequate. my 17" seems to be very tightly constructed (better than my Ti400) and, outside of the uneven gaps when the screen is closed, doesn't have any obvious build issues.
