I noticed assassyn's review he says he's using VPC 5.0 with a windows xp upgrade and 512mb of RAM alloted to it. He says it runs awesome.

I would like to know what the best configuration is for me to go with on my incoming 17"...keeping in mind I'll be using it to surf and do light autocad stuff on...and a couple file conversions and stuff probably. (and storage of windows files, if it allows for that?)

what the real difference between vp5 and 6??

the options are VPC 5 or 6 and windows 2000 or XP.

I want to hear from people that are having awesome performance and I would like to know what options they went with.

thanks!!
Architecture:Design | 17" alPB | 23" cinema display etc...

Version 6 is optimized to take advantage of Quartz Extreme so the visuals are a lot snappier. Other than that the Performance is nearly the same. The core emulation of VPC 5 and 6 are nearly the same.

I upped my Vram to 16MB from the default 4 MB. That helps a lot.

The 17" PB features are what makes it really perform, 167Mhz Bus and 1 GHZ G4 make quicker. And it`s neat how you can make the windows desktop fit the 17 inch display.
