talked to two different specialists at apple care and they both said that the sizzle under the keyboard and the screeching noise are normal for the 17 inch only. they said they are aware of it and it is normal and all 17 machines do this. the sizzle comes from under the f5 and f7 keys according to them. i sort of agree because when i move away from the center of the keyboard it seems to lesson. the screeching they say only happens on graphic intensive apps. again i agree. it makes me feel better. do you all think they are telling the truth or agree it is normal.

i only hear the sizzle when i have the power adapter plugged in - and it was disturbingly loud when i was still using one of the yo-yo adapters. with the "correct" adapter, it's only noticeable when i put my ear to the keyboard.

i've only heard the "screech" a few times with Safari, but i assume it's the graphics card doing something.

all in all, a near-perfect rev. A machine. i'm highly impressed.
