I pre-ordered mine on Jan. 29th and I'm still waiting... like most of us.

Today, I cancelled the order and I will switch back to a Toshiba laptop.

I’m very sorry and I have to admit that this cancellation is only a very small contribution for helping Apple facing "huge" "unforeseen" orders :-)
I guess Apple managers are working with Windows software to plan their marketing-production process channel.

Anyway, now I'm an Apple-liberated-mind. Total recovery will take time.

I really could not find any reasons to continue in contributing to a company’s growth if this company does not follow the basics rules of customer-business relationships: communication.

Enjoy

Bye Bye Apple

If you can't love Apple for what it is, then I feel sorry for you. Production problems and delays are the Apple way. It will only make the day that new machines are available the same day they are announced that much sweeter.

But the thing I am truly sorry of is that you are going back to a *Toshiba* laptop. If you must have a Windows box at least pick up a ThinkPad or something!

Hahaha!

I love these guys! If you are so huffy about it, just wait until Apple actually has everything rolled out and then order the PowerBook. What? The PowerBook isn't good anymore because you aren't the first to have it? Pre-ordering is for those who like to wait to be first not for those who get burned easily.

In all honesty, I can't blame ya man, but I do think you could've kept your boasting out of the forums. I mean I pre-ordered a CD from bestbuy.com a week before it's release date, and the Monday before it was to be released I got a courteous email from a BestBuy rep. telling me the CD hadn't been shipped yet because it's released date was the next day, and that I could cancel my order today if I was unsatisfied with this wait. Of course I didn't because I knew when the release date was to begin with, but if a company can take such care of their customers who purchase a $14 CD, surely Apple could communicate with those purchasing a $3,000+ computer, eh?

I confess I'm not moved by the Apple "religion" : Apple is a business (see the story about the new contracts between Apple and its resellers).

With the Al, Apple failed to meet its dead-line.

When the boss says "shipping end of February", should we understand another "subliminal" message?

I do not see myself saying to my client "sorry the beamer you booked three months ago is not available today. Just make copies of your report for your 3000 participants".

Welcome to reality.

Ok I will look for a Thinpad :-)

Well... good for you, I guess you have to do what you think is best. I think you're attitude is all wrong though. I made the choice to buy a Mac because for me it was a better computer, I would not sacrifice how productive I am with it, nor how much better it is for me simply because I had to wait over a month to get it.

Maybe you were never meant to be a Mac user, maybe a computer is just a tool for you... for me though, it is part of what I do and I need to be in control of it, not the other way around.

I'd rather have a near-flawless machine later than a crappy machine now.

I placed an order on Feb. 4th. My original OOB was on Apr. 2nd and Apple postponed it on May 7th. I don't know when I receive 17" powerbook. By the way, University Book Store of my university has 17" powerbook in stock. I don't know why Apple did not fullfil many pre-order while Apple resellers like Ubookstore has the product in stock. I have asked Apple about it by email several times. I got two replies saying that they were not in a position to tell the answer and forwarded my mail to other department. So far I have not received the real answer and am still waiting. I may not figure it out forever.
