Hello everybody
I've seen there is a topic similar for the 17" but right now they are talking only about battery time.
I'm more interested in other problems of our 12" like the DVD player in full screen, heat, the no sound after wake up...

I'll start testing now if anything has been fixed,
do you want to help me?

Well, just now my PB said that I only had 1.5 hours left... on 70% CHARGE! Booo! I'll wait and see what happens...

Ok, the first thing I checked: battery life
before rebooting was 1:01, after was 1:48 .. pretty cool, who know if it's becouse needs to be recalibrated or powermanagement is really improved?

I'm watching the first movie I've found, a b/w akira kurosawa movie, it's not the best for testing but it's absolutly smooth, on 10.2.4 was choppy.

one strange thing is that after the first rebooting the screen was set at thousands of colors, not milions as usual..

well happy enough for the smooth vision (finally)

Mine is... fluctuating... but then I remembered its a new battery and I havent calibrated it yet (doing so at the moment) so I'll inform y'all later on.

Other than that, I think the sound cutting out (amp powering down, back up, so on) is fixed... anyone else? Nothing worse than delayed sound when you're chatting... =)

Well, fully charged I usually get around 3:30 and 4:00 expected battery life. However real battery life go from 2:30 to 3:00. If Mac OS X 10.2.5 improves on that, I will be very very happy

I will install the update tomorrow and will check the DVD issue.

Hey all - something to check. After doing 10.2.5 on my 12" pb, then unplugging the power adapter for the first time, my procesor speed wasn't reduced. Check energy saver -> battery -> performance. Mine was on highest (xbench) confirmed that.

With it on reduced, taking notes in class without airport or sound and with the screen on 1 bar, I'm seeing 4:55. Pretty good methinks.

im running songs in itunes, verify permissions, and surfing and hardly any heat. this is amazing. but it proves there was a problem before. even if battery not improved the heat being gone is awesome. makes this even more perfect. one less thing for the non applers to bitch about.

I have noticed the following improvements after installing 10.2.5

- no popping of speaker when first playing a sound

- No dropped DVD frames when playing in full screen at 1024 X 768

- my smoking hot left palm rest is barely warm (even after being plugged in all day)

HEY!

One thing I noticed after the update. My battery that was 100% and the charger was green is now showing 95% and the charger is amber, it has been like that all day, I am calibrating the battery now to see if that helps.

YEAH BABY YEAH

Music to my ears, thank you guys. My fully maxed angel arrives on Monday, Airport, Griffin, JBL creatures and all.

Reading over the last few weeks I had begun to get cold feet, but 10.2.5 seems to have sorted out most of the imperfections. Switching feels gooooooooooooooood.

Aahhhhh, aint life grand

same here. i assume it's a power-saving thing (it shuts down the sound system when it's not in use), but the pop is annoying and somewhat worrisome.

My sound still pops, but the DVDs are smooth now, and the heat does seem better. I wonder if deleting the sound prefs, or even power manager prefs would fix this?

I did the combo update from 10.2.3 and it fixed the dropped frames/choppiness in DVD playback! Battery life improved about 15 minutes but have to re-calibrate the battery to tell for sure. Also the finder seems snappier!
PB 12" 640MB combo drive and all is well!

It is designed that way as a power-saving mechanism.

If it bothers you, download KeepSoundAwake from www.versiontracker.com and read the ReadMe for a brief explanation of why this is so (or search this forum; there've been a couple threads on this).

The heat never bothered me, but it is definitely cooler after 10.2.5. Of course after I installed the update, my PB lost its sound after a sleep, which had never happened before. For now that seems to be an isolated incident.

BTW, I tried this app with 10.2.4, and it didn't work. The speaker popped just as before.
