When the 'second generation' iBook were introduced, it was essentially a mini-version 12" of the 15" Titanium PowerBook G4, in terms of appearance, enclosure and even performance. Subsequently Apple broadened the line even further with the addition of the 14" iBook.

However, now that Apple has diversified the PowerBook line with the addition of the 12" and 17" models, it appears that Apple no longer needs the iBooks to fill that gap.

This is why i expect that the next iteration of iBooks to introduce a new enclosure or at the very least - colours, to distinguish it from the Pro line of PowerBook Mac portables.

You should join Noah's predictions in the thread already started: "The NEW iBook will have a 13' Screen!..." It would help if we tried to consolidate our opinions, and you might get some responses. Just my opinion.

As for colours, everytime I remember those coloured notebooks, I remember my reaction at the time "Gee, Ronald McDonald would really love one of those."

Well, i think that the new enclosure/colours will be the 'big' advance or change for the iBooks...other things: faster, more features (Bluetooth, AirPort Extreem ready) and lower price are just what one would expect in an update.

So i think it deserves it's own thread

This has been discussed to death in other threads. A simple search would bring up five or six threads based on this topic easily.

ThinkSecret claims to have inside information of a very boring update to the iBook line, however I think there's more to this than meets the eye.

I doubt there will be different Coloured iBooks, the iMac WAS coloured now it is a subtly grey/white. The iBook WAS coloured now it is a subtle grey/white.
By swapping back to colours it would make the iBook not fit in with the rest of the Apple Range.

what color do you want your ibook to be?

black with the reflective casing for me would be cool

the 12" powerbook will (eventually) become the ibook. there will be slower models for consumers and a faster, more expensive model for professionals.

I would like to see the colors on the ibooks and iMacs as a option and leave the pro machines to the grey look that they have now. One of the big problems other companies had with the colors was apple kept changing the colors so they couldnt match there products as well as they did with the bondi blue.

If they did bring back the colors I think I would go for a red model.

I think it would be stupid to make more then 5 colors. Do I think that apple will bring them back nope.
