Let's put this video card debate to "rest".

I think if we see that people are happy with the PERFORMANCE (not numbers from bench marks) based on what they use it for, then we should let apples' choice rest in peace.

I for one don't have my powerbook yet but I will be in the 3D guru category and will be giving it a thourough test right away and will post my results.

P.S. 3D design guru are people that use programs such as maya, formz, archicad etc...openGL type stuff.

There should be another category for 2D design for photoshop, flash, video editing users...but let's lump that in with the 3D design guru's

I play Quake III, SoF II, and RtCW on my 17" PB, and even push them on my 23" HD Display through it, and everything is beautiful. I couldn't be happier, for the games I wanted to play, it works perfect. The only thing I'm worried about is its ability to play UT2003 when it comes out, but it won't be the end of the world if it can't, though I'm pertty sure it'll be able to w/ some settings turned back a bit.

If you are not playing games on your Powerbook is this really an issue?

Pamelah, can't you do a poll that isn't insulting?

For example, I don't like the graphics card in the 17" because it isn't as energy efficient as the Radeon 9000...not because it doesn't meet my "pathetic needs".

Sheesh.

computers are used for a lot more than games you know. many people actually use them as a tool for making money. see 3D designer option.

it isn't insulting. It gets down to this.

does the card do what you need it to do based on your needs?

and I think you may be the *first* person to have mentioned "energy efficiency"...which is practically negligable compared to the geforce by the way. people are complaining that the 9000 is "better"...so I wanted to find out if the geforce is getting the job done. seems that it is. question answered.

Yes, it *is* insulting--your tone is prickly, childish and your poll options are obviously biased. In other threads you've yelled at me for even discussing the topic.

" and I think you may be the *first* person to have mentioned "energy efficiency"...which is practically negligable compared to the geforce by the way."

Maybe in your forums, but not on the rest of the net--there was a long discussion of battery life w/r/t video cards over at AppleInsider.

The increased power efficiency of the 9000 is not negligible, but no one has yet been able to tell definitively what difference it would make.

It certainly isn't *helping* the lower battery life for the 17".
