Some of the postings on the Apple Suppport Boards suggests that the 10.2.5 update fixes the infamous heat problem. Can anybody confirm this?

I can confirm that the update has had an effect on the heat my Powerbook has been generating.

Now it only gets warm. Before it got HOT.
Does anyone know what in the update could have helped this issue? People are also reporting better battery performance, so it must have something to do with Power Management??

Yep! It seemed to fix most of the heat problem with my 12" PB. It's been plugged in all morning and it's just a little warm. I'd say they lowered the charging rate and optimized some other settings in Power Manager.

Thanks Apple!

Yes, most noticable result is you get a longer battery time for 12" powerbook and improvement on its heating issue as well.

The update didn't work for me as far as the heat problem goes. Battery life still within the 2.5-3 hr range (with 2 light bars and longest batt. life, airport, itunes). In fact, yesterday when the temps outside were up in the high 80s, I could almost see the waves of heat radiating from my trusty 12"! And this was from being in sleep mode all day, although I don't see why that would be since it was on a/c power all the time so there was no charging of the battery involved?

I am seriously considering getting a cooling pad(?) for this little baby. I can't imagine using it comfortably when summer rolls around.

10.2.5 doesn't seem to have helped here, My 12" is pluged in all day, sitting on a glass desk and its very hot indeed, yesterday I'm sure I noticed that 'hot electrical goods' type smell.

As long as nothing gets damaged I don't mind the heat too much, it just feels like its not healthy for the machine itself.
