this is odd - on my ibook 800 i am getting normal battery life, but when it runs low i am not getting a "you are now running on reserve power" message. instead, it goes to sleep at around the 10% level with no warning.
is there an option anywhere to enable to battery warning?

Nope there is not way to enable the warning or disable it. I think your battery indicator reporting inaccurate battery life "it thinks there’s 10%" battery life left but in reality there really isn't. My indicator usually comes on between 2% and 5%. You should try resetting your pmu/battery I believe there are instructions on this forum on how to reset the batter/pmu

I had this problem some time ago. It occured, I think, after I had closed the warning window. It wouldn't reappear. A restart fixed it though.

Hmmm my iBook 500 also does this. I've tried to recondition the power management as per the Apple instructions but it has not helped, yet.
I think mine get confused because I have two different strength batteries I use.
Sorry I couldn't be any help. Have you tried the reconditioning?

I had that happen to me after I updated to 10.2.5 (possibly coincidence). I've already "reconditioned" my battery too. When I did that, my warning sign came on a quarter to half an hour before I actually ran out of power. It's been a while since I reset my power manager.

Hey, I just had another question. Do you battery warnings while watching the visuals of iTunes, viewing a slideshow in iPhoto, or while watching a DVD? I can't remember.
