Why Apple doesn't make Apple branded carrying case?

I'm just curious why Apple doesn't make Apple Branded carrying case. Even if they can't do it themselves they can license others so that that Apple logo can go outside of the bag. Its like free marketing don't you think?
Imagine somebody who never works with or knows what Apple is and they see someone else carrying the bag that has the Apple logo in the train or on the street; then later they see the Apple store...and ka-chin!
Just a though!

I have a branded "Skin" bag for my 12" PB. I got it at the AppleStore in Cupertino (next to the Apple Campus). It is really thin and light and sports an apple logo.

Pretty much the only place to get any apple-branded stuff is the Cupertino Company Store. There is a little bit of stuff at www.redlightrunner.com, but their stuff is way overpriced (I got a $125 keychain that was $10 at the store).
If you're ever there, be sure to stop. I usually end up spending a few hundred dollars on stuff whenever I go to MWSF (although MWSF's end may be near, sadly).

I agree on the thievery problem. Having a bag with a conspicuous Apple logo screams "the laptop inside is expensive! Steal it!" I'd rather just use the Brenthaven bags Apple is offering online, if I had to get as close to an official Apple bag as I could.

I thought about this as well...at first I was kind of wishing my Brenthaven case had an Apple logo on it, but then I thought that theives would like that as well, so it'd be best to keep what's inside under wraps.

Apple used to have an extremely wide product line, and believe it or not, they made their own cases at one point. Steve Jobs saw that having forty different Performa models out at the same time was causing them to lose money. Apple simplified its product line, and since then, it's been a profitable company.
Incidentally, I might have an old Apple PowerBook bag somewhere in storage. If I find it, I'll take pictures.

I'm not sure if this link will work, but:
Kensinton Saddlebag with Apple Logo
True, it's made by Kensington, but it does have the Apple logo and it's sold in Apple's online store, so...
There are also Apple-branded cases and other goods sold in stores in Japan (I assume that they must be licensed, since these are big-time mainstream electronics chains selling them).

I managed to buy a great leather Apple branded bag from the Apple Store on their Campus a couple of years ago...it was great for the Ti but I have to admit is a little big for my new 12" !!
Let me know if you'd like pictures...
Jules.

It doesn't. I wish there was an easy way to link to items at the Apple store.

The way I see it, just about any laptop bag would attract a thieve's eye, so I stuck one of the white Apple stickers on mine. But I suppose if the bag was somewhere in plain sight, I'd be covering that up just incase...

Eh that's my bag..The logo is not too flashy so I'm not too worried about thieves..

if i have a notebook, i'd get a sleeve and put it in a bag that look nothing like a notebook bag. a product specific bag only screams "Hey, i'm expensive, steal me..!!"

I remember reading somewhere that you can buy an anti-theft device that if your PB moves it'll trigger a really really loud (some where around 150dB) noise...

I like your bag...though it doesn't look like the 17" would fit

They should totally have Apple logos on all the bags that's made to put Apple computers in.

if your PB moves?? you as in when walking?? lol..
seriously, i don't get it, how can you make an anti-theft device in a bag? it's designed to move. it's a bag. anyne can easily snatch it and walk away with it..unless you meant something like a range sensor that tells you when your bag with the PB is going out of say, 1 metre away from you..

I think those are used when the computer is out on a desk or something, not when you are carrying it.

Agreed. You have a home security system installed but you don't arm it if you're home!
