I have a TiPB 500 MHz (the original). I got it when it first came out and before 512 MB chips were available. Now the 512 MB chips are pretty cheap (under $100 each). I was wondering if anyone has had first hand experience with the original TiPB with these RAM configuration and if there was a noticable difference in performance . I just recently sent my TiPB away for an internal superdrive upgrade , so I will be using iDVD 3. So would a 512 MB upgrade be noticably different for MPEG 2 encoding (Does anyone know how long it should take to encode a full DVD using iDVD 3 ). Thanks

NoopieTom

P.S. Also, does anyone recommend 512 MB chips from a specific company?

Don't upgrade. You won't notice much of a difference. Also, new PowerBooks don't support PC-133 SDRAM.

Don't know for your tibook but in my iMac jumping from 384mb to 640 made a very noticeable difference.. especially when running OS X...
Powerbook 1.67ghz 15" (100GB HD, 128MB VRAM, 1.5GB RAM)
