Newbie says he uses Winfax on PC. Does the OSX have anything in which he can mass fax or does he need to purchase additional software?

FaxSTF, CocoaFax, and others. There's an article in this month's MacWorld on the various options.

Also, search Macupdate.com with the word Fax and you'll see the options.
If this post is in the Lounge forum, it is likely to be my own opinion, and not representative of the position of MacNN.com.

The PowerBook comes with FaxSTF - works "okay" when faxing to normal fax machines, but if you try faxing to a number that has an auto voice/fax sensor or a computer based fax then FaxSTF typically will fail.

Note that installing it leaves a redident portion of the program in memory at all times.

I gave up on it a long while back.

I haven't used FaxSTF for a couple of years now, but when I did it was aweful. The program was good for faxing but wreaked havoc on my system. Lots of conflicts, crashes, and general instability. FaxSTF doesn't play nice with other apps. I'd look into alternate solutions and delete all vestages of FaxSTF.

The latest Macworld gives "Pagesender" the highest marks for OSX faxing.

FaxSTF was second best, and last was cocoa efax.
