My x key just popped off!! ACK!! I can't figure out which way it goes back in. Are the keys glued in or just hooked? Is it going to be ok?

They're "hooked" onto the keyboard via a plastic mechanism. If the key is intact, it should snap right back on.

Thanks! Whew. Finally got it. That was a pain in the butt!! I think my nail flipped it up.

My key popped out, but it will not go back in, it slots in and clicks but the key lifts out above the keyboard.
we don't have time to stop for gas

There is a trick to it..
You have to lift the little bars--I used a small eyeglass screwdriver to gently (!) lift them and then kind of snap the key back on. It took me a hot minute, but I got it.
