Hi guys. I just want to know how can you tell whether a PB is a new one or a used(display set) ? I know how to tell from a PC side of view as listed below:

1. The OS eg. WinXP will have to be installed for the first time when you switch on the laptop with the registration process

2. The box is sealed with cellophane tape once (u can see marks on the box if its been opened before)

3. The LCD screen is sealed with a protected layer of thin film.

So how do you know that your PB is new when you bought it?

Well with the PowerBook, it comes new wrapped in a sealed foamish material that you can definitely tell if it's been taken off and then put back on. Also, when you bootup your PowerBook for the first time you're prompted to go through a registration process to input your name and information to register your new Mac. If this prompting screen doesn't appear upon bootup, then it's already been booted up before and therefore it's technically not new. That alone is the biggest giveaway.
