I've just installed an IBM Travelstar 40GNX in my Pismo myself, and now it seems my hard drive powers up, but not the screen! I've reseated the processor card, but to no avail.

What shall I do?

I had this EXACT same thing happen to me! And it seems to happen fairly regularly...

Search the forums for my solution. Post back if you can't find it or run into problems.

Basic point is this: Processor card must be seated tightly (press on it hard!), make sure that cable on left of processor card going to screen is seated tightly. Based on my experience, it is unlikely that anything is damaged.

Good luck.

have you tried zapping the p-ram or re-setting the power manager? You shouldent have had to take out the processor card to install the HD (I took mine out to do it to and fried it... oh well live and learn)

if you've tried those things and made sure the processor card is in good there really isnt much else you can do but take it somewehre and have it checked out....

Good luck...

Yes, you do have to remove the CPU, in order to be able to unplug the hard drive cable.

Removing the CPU is perfectly safe as long as you remove all power sources first (including the PRAM battery!!!) and follow proper anti-static procedure.
