Hi,

Is it OK to leave my iBook plugged into the mains all the time? I use it as a desktop computer, and don't use the battery that often. I've heard stories of people leaving their laptop plugged in all the time killing their battery. Should I remove the battery when running from mains for a long time?

Cheers,
Nick

It is OK (I hope).

Not doing that killed my iBook battery after just 7 months.

Now I'm keeping it plugged almost all the time:
* because the battery reloads when reaching 95%, i unplug it at 96% and run the battery empty.
* leaving it plugged after loading actually doesn't load the battery further, as it drops each day with 1%.

So in the past my battery got loaded 1 or more per day, now it's only every 4 days.

That should be the way....
*Finger crossed*
I'm-a trying to wonder, wonder, wonder why you, wonder, wonder why you act so.

It's ok. Li-Ion batteries allow only a limited amount of load cycling (about 300, IIRC). In addition, they wear down even if you don't use them. Effective usage is guaranteed for about 3 years...

Anyway, I would recommend to run your battery empty every few weeks.
