Hi guys...i have got a problem with my PB. I inserted a PC CD-R format that contains pictures and word documents and i double-click it..no go at all. So i press the eject button but the disc still have not come out. So i try to restart and now it just stays there at the blue screen. How can i take the disc out and how can i rectify this problem?

Yikes...have you tried dragging the CD that mounted on your desktop when you inserted it into the Trash and seeing if it'll eject that way?

If that didn't work, I'd do a hard reboot and push the eject button and pray it'd come out upon a restart. If that didn't work, I hope you have AppleCare, and I'd give them a call.

Hopefully someone else on these boards may have a more definite solution...best of luck man.

Its out. I did press the power button down for 10secs and it shuts down. Then press the power button again and then press the F12 button/Eject button and the disc it out. Phew...that disc will not be going in the slot again. I tried another PC format disc and it works. Must be a dodgy CD-R that the Superdrive can't read.

I had this problem once and referred to Apple Knowledge base article 106752. You can go into Open Firmware on boot and eject any cd directly from there:

"1. Restart the computer.
2. Immediately after the startup sound, press and hold the key combination Command-Option-O-F.
Note: The Command key has the Apple icon on it.
3. Release the keys when you see a white screen that says "Welcome to Open Firmware."
4. At the prompt, type: eject cd
5. Press Return, then wait a few seconds. The disc drive should eject any disc that is present, and "ok" appears behind your command when the action is complete.
6. Type: mac-boot
7. Press Return.
"

In my case it was the only option, the OS wasn't even mounting the CD but hte drive accepted it fine.

Wow, that's excellent to hear...just make sure you put those CD-R's on your blacklist!

The easiest way is to hold down the mouse/trackpad button whilst starting up. The CD will eject automatically.
