I opted not to purchase the Apple ram, and planning on buying a 512 chip to max out the 17" I just ordered.

any place in particular been good to you, or bad?

I'll guarantee you that benefit is not worth a 300% price difference!

Check out www.ramseeker.com for a price listing. You need PC2700 333Mhz 200-Pin DDR RAM. Don't get the more popular kind, 184-pin, because it is over twice as wide (go figure).

I got mine from OWC (www.macsales.com) for $140, including an advance-replacement warranty.

I have had very good luck in the pact with:

www.crucial.com
www.coastmemory.com

Good luck!

I got mine "free" from MacMall ($39.99 installation charge, but still the cheapest RAM available). But I recommend Crucial or Coast Memory like the poster obove as I have done business with both.

For me, it'll be Crucial all the way. They make the best rams in the market.

I got mine straight from Apple when I ordered my BTO 17" PB, but of course I paid less b/c of the ADC Discount. As my first Apple, and it being a notebook, I wanted even the extram RAM warrentied under AppleCare.

However, if buying it from an outside vendor, I'd get it from www.ramseeker.com or www.18004memory.com

Good luck!
