Anyone notice that most head phones dont fully fit into the headphone port on the 17" albook?

I've tried a few pairs of sony, and my ipod headphones and they both stick out a cm or so from the port. To make sure it wasn't just mine, i tried putting my headphones into the 17" albooks at the soho apple store.

Apple has a knowledgebank article on this:

I'm guessing it probably has to do with the aluminum casing of the laptop. Doesn't bother me a bit.

Apple has a KB topic on this. Doesn't matter, don't worry about it. They're just shallow jacks. (You didn't think those plugs actually needed all that contact area for the electrical connection did ya? )

I'm sure he was just concerned that it was *his* PB that wasn't working correctly.

It's normal however, and your headphones jack is still making 100% connection.

I use it all the time, no problems at all with it. It's fine... so don't worry about it.

Yeah, but why are they like that? Jacks go all the way in on TiBooks. It just looks wrong.... like it's going to fall out. And gives people the impression that something either is broken, or isn't designed right. Telling one guy not to worry about it won't stop 25,000 others from wondering. What is the deal with the shallow jack hole?

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.
