My old iBook is acting up again. Its a 500 mHz G3 with 384 MB of RAM, running 10.1.4.
I have come to the unfortunate realization that my keyboard no longer works in controlling my volume, brightness, or EJECT functions. I need to eject my drive in order to install Jaguar and totally overhaul and clear my HD. Is there anyway to force the drive to open without damaging the machine?

Thanks
c_rowe

Umm maybe use iTunes and use the Eject button down the bottom of the program..? That may be a solution ?

It could be time to use the paper clip trick. Uncurl a paperclip and put an end into a small hole that should be on the upper right side of the CD-ROM door. Push it in gently and the CD-ROM should pop open.

Have fun... Tony.

Boot into open firmware (hold command+option+O+F) and type "eject cd" (no quotes) and hit return. Now type "mac-boot" to continue booting. Or try holding down the trackpad button during boot. There are many ways to open the drive.
