Finally, finally, finally placed my order for a new PB today.
Thanks to everybody here who helped me making up my mind .
I decided to go for the 12" Combo in the end.
It's highly unlikely that I will ever use the PB for serious video editing, so no DVD burner needed. I mean, I'll probably do the odd rough cut in the field but I used to do that on an iBook with little trouble. The 12" should be able to handle that plenty.
I was thinking to get the DVD drive for backup but for the difference in money I can get a kick-ass external firewire drive for just that purpose. More flexible too, which is a good thing.
I love the portability. I travel a fair bit and currently use a 12" iBook to showcase my work. Which works fine but the iBook just doesn't say "professional" to me.
I wanted bluetooth build in. Got to hook up this baby to my t681 and see how they cooperate.
I also decided to get a return from Apple. I had a chat with Apple, they are normally d.o.a. machines that have been fixed and are like fresh from the factory. I am saving $600 doing that, which is really worth it IMO. Comes with a 1 year warranty as well as free 90 days telephone support. Can't say fairer than that.
Should be here just after easter.
And if I change my mind I can just put it on ebay and probably get more for it than I paid.

The "return" you talked about sounds like a great deal...as long as it's covered by Apple you're only saving yourself lots of cash w/o any real risk since the machine's been repaired!
