I have a question for those with 17" PB. What is your battery staus when plugged in? Mine will charge to 100%. Then it drops to 99%. After a few days it is 98%. Recommended storage according to the manual is to leave the computer plugged in? (Page 81)

It states that you are do one of the following keep the battery from becoming depleted. One of which is keep the power adapter connected.

Any thoughts, insight, or similar behavior?

All Apple portables do this (or at least all the newer ones..)

It is very bad for batteries to be charged when they are already full, as it will reduce their capacity. So, when the battery becomes charged, the computer will shut off the charging circuit and only use the AC to power the computer. Now, batteries gradually drain over time (it is a chemical reaction, after all.) So while the computer is running off the AC the battery will sslllowwly drop its charge.

It is hard on the battery to constantly top it off, so Apple has set it up to wait until it gets to ~95% charge before turning the charging circuit back on and topping off the battery. This limits the number of charging cycles and lengthens the service life of the battery.

This is all totally normal and a vast improvement on how a lot of PC laptops work.

That is normal for the battery to do that.
