I don't know why it took me over 15 years to switch.
I have just received my 17" powerbook and from the packaging to the design to the build quality, it is the greatest system I have ever used.
The operating system is superb and so easy to use.
This is among one of the best investment.
The waiting was horrible but now that I have the system in my hand, i just can't stop using it.
For the ones who are still waiting for yours ...be patient ...it is really worth the wait.

We don't believe you. We want pictures.

But a preemptive "congrats and welcome" is not too much to ask for, I suppose. So, congrats and welcome. Now fork over the evidence.
I, ASIMO.

Welcome to the LightSide, so glad you've arrived!

I, too, switched w/ the 17" PB and haven't looked back since...it's such an amazing machine, too cool for words.

I hope your PowerBook continues to impress, and post pics when you can!

Hehe, ohhh yeah, I thought everyone here knew of my switch...it all started way back in Jan. 2003 when I started looking for a notebook to take to college in the fall of 2003, and I happened to come across a blip for the upcoming 17" PB on cnet.com, and so that hooked me. I came here, and a few other boards, to ask for opinions, and once my mind was made up, I've been soaking up knowledge and trying to help others just as much as the Vets here helped me when I was just a newbie! My very first post can be read here, and after this convincing I continued to ask other Q's about Macs in general and such, and after a few months of hardcore questioning and actual Mac experience now, I'm just happy to be giving back to the community!

Where the hell did you get your Pb 17 from? Apple store UK? I have now been waiting 5 months for mine from Computer Warehouse, and am just a little more than annoyed!

Just placed another order at Apple store UK, where people seem to be getting them quickly....

please...please...please

Well, there will always be the "What do you mean it doesnt have Windows on it?..." people.
Then I Iaunch VPC into XP, 2000 Pro, or 98 SE, and I say "I can run your OS, why can't you run mine?"

I'm a switcher too. I ran PCs for 15 yrs, since the venerable PC XT. Now, though, since I've been repairing Apples and since I got my little 12" PB, I'm cured! I don't even own a PC anymore (gave my Athlon 1.6GHz to my dad and sold my Thinkpad) and I'll be getting a 970 based Powermac when they come out.
