i've been having problems establishing a dial-up PPP connection under OS10. did the stuff suggested in Apple's support sites -- unchecked compression under modem and sending PPP echo packets (not sure of the exact wording because i've had to reboot in OS9 right now). but this works on and off. when the iBook wakes up from sleep, it still can't connect right away until the 2nd or 3rd try (sometimes more). in the meantime under OS9 it works all the time, no problem (but IE5 is slow).

any suggestions? wouldn't be so annoying if i weren't spending 20+ cents per local call just trying to connect and failing.
