I was wondering if anybody had info on wireless modem internet connectivity, such as PC cards like "Sierra" or "Nextel IM1100" for the MACS. I talked to both Sierra and Nextel and currently they do not offer services for MACs. That is exactly what I need; wireless roaming service anywhere within their regular digital cellular zones. Just wondering if anybody has heard anything on future wireless(roaming) for MACs?

The Sprint PCS Merlin C201 Card works on the Mac, but you need to activate the card on a Windows Machine (Virtual PC won't do it).
After the card has been activated in Windows, just pop it in your Mac (I have done this under OS X 10.2.3 and 10.2.4) and open up System Preferences and click on Network. The card will show up as a modem in the Show pop up. Click the PPP Tab and add the phone number #444 and you should be all set. Just use the Internet Dialer to "dial" in and you should be surfing.
Only drawback is that you can't tell how strong the signal is.

You could use GPRS as long as you had a phone that was capable of it and you connected the phone to your Mac. I know the t68i can do this, as long as you have Bluetooth or an Ir port (some older PowerBooks have this). A USB Bluetooth adapter can be found online for around $30, and a few service companies are offering the t68i for free after rebate. Check Amazon.com for that deal, since that's where I found mine and I know they're still offering it. Just about any other Bluetooth enabled phone will be capable of this as well. Once you get the phone and everything, check Apple's Knowledge Base for instructions on how to connect. Good luck.

GSM cards are old school, bluetooth is the way to go. Plus, the Sony T68i is killer phone.

I use my T68i and bluetooh to connect via GPRS... it's good if you're in a pinch, or if you REALLY bored, but all and all, it's too darned SLOW to be usable for surfing and the like...
