I hate having to move my curser all of the way to the right and then hold down on the mouse button and dragging with the mouse pad (built into my iBook) in order to scroll through a webpage. Isn't there a button on my iBook that I had hold down and then drag my curser from anywhere within the web browser? I know my PC laptop has one.

Boy, do I have the perfect freeware app for you!

uControl

Because it modifies some pretty deep... system stuff, it's inherently risky, but I've been using it for about 6 months now without a hitch.

Well, there still isn't a utility that offers the same functionality as that Windows touchpad driver, which lets you just grab a specified side of the touchpad and it scrolls the frontmost window. I would love if somebody could write this, but it's not available yet.

You can do it with uControl, but you need to hold a modifier (fn, option, etc.) while scrolling, which is not nearly as cool. Oh well.

Wow! Thanks Sage!

This Mac community is awesome. I knew where would be some way to add that function and I knew somebody here would have the answer. That works perfectly, I love it already.

Acrobat Reader doesn't let you scroll with a scrollwheel either Which is a shame because if you are reading large .pdf's
we don't have time to stop for gas

Scrolling with the cursor buttons works fine here. I LOVE the cursor buttons (in conjunction with option, shift, fn) for all kind of navigation in Safari and Finder ect.

Alright, might sound strange and hard to describe but here's how I comfortably scroll on my iBook:

I spread my fingers out slightly so that:
1) my right pinky rests on the down arrow/page down
2) thumb rests on trackpad button
3) forefinger on trackpad

then i just reach up and hit the fn key with my left forefinger if i want to page down instead of roll down, or the Ctrl key for contextual menus

It's very comfortable and convenient, and still lets me easily jump back to the keyboard to type -- In fact, I hardly use my external scroll mouse anymore!

You're welcome! I absolutely love it too... one of the most useful things I've ever downloaded.

These keys are also handy in browsers:

space bar = page down
shift-space bar = page up
