I need a nice quick way to change my processor from highest to reduced without going to the trouble of the System Preferences. I have been looking for something like the Control Stip module I used to use in OS 9 but haven't found anything for Mac OS X. I would think it would be very easy to write a little dock program that could change that setting. Anyone know of anything?

Hm... I know something, and that is that when you change processor speed settings, they are saved in the files /private/var/db/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.xml
and /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist

I don't know which is the governing, but I'd guess the former is. Note also that for the settings to take effect, the proper deamon has to be noticed (or simply restarted?) - configd.
