Apple dropped all of the iBook models by $100 Cdn, while the US price remains unchanged. This is the price the iBooks should have been right from the start, but at least now we can say the price is fair.

before:
700MHz 12' cdrom: $1599
800Mhz 12' Combo: $2099
800Mhz 14' Combo: $2399

now:
800MHz 12' cdrom: $1499
900Mhz 12' Combo: $1999
900Mhz 14' Combo: $2299

yeah baby getting something technically around cheaper than the americans from apple... this is a day to rejoice!

But with this dismal update I won't be rejoicing very much.

Even if not air port extream which was almost a givin for the update, at least in the high end moddel it should have had bluetooth inside! It's absurd that an iBook wouldn't have built in blue tooth when it's so freaking cheap!

Great! I've always wondered why they always charged more than the exchange rate.

Unfortunately, the exchange rate doesn't hold true for PowerBooks. The ratio is now 1.5 for iBooks but 1.6 for the PowerBook 12" combo.

US: $1799
Canada: $2899

It should be just $2699 in Canada.

Apple's "e" and "i" lines seem to reflect the 1.5 ration you speak of, yet the Canadian pricing of their Power "Pro" lines, are still overpriced, which is a true shame...

Also nice to see that the hard drive upgrade price is now on par (once currency conversions are factored in) to Apple.com. Last fall they were well out of line. Something like $115 USD for the upgrade vs $260 CDN.

$75 CDN for a 20 Gig upgrade is a very good value IMO.

hehe as some one that builds PCs for a living its still over priced, 40GB 7200 RPM Drive is 95.00 a 60GB $110.00 and a 80GB $125.00 CDN but hey they need to make there money some place. interesting thing to point out to get the same motherboard for a PC, duel CPU, 4 Memory slots, 64bit memory, builtin sound and 10/100/100 ethernet I was looking at 1000.00 for the board alone so I dont see PowerPCs being expensive any more to make the same system I would end up spending more then just buying a Mac

The new iPods also bring more value to us Canadians, as they're now $20 cheaper across the line

before
5GB - $479
10GB - $629
20GB - $769

now
10GB - $459
15GB - $599
30GB - $749

In my oppinion the mid-range iPod has always been the best value, as you get the remote, carrying case, and now even a dock! Theres no reason not to own one now.

I hope this trend continues. The thought of paying $200 less for a PowerBook is tempting
