My roommate has a Tibook with a 10GB harddrive, and he wants to replace it. He wants to know if its possible to replace the drive without having to reinstall the system and all his apps from scratch. I have a g4 w/ gigabit ethernet, so we could move everything to my drive, but would that work? Thanks

Go to versiontracker.com and look for an app called Carbon Copy Cloner. I haven't used it myself, but others here have with good results. You may need to do it twice (once to move it to your PM, then once again to move it back to the Ti). Also, it might be faster if you mount the Ti onto your PM using Target Disk mode. To do this you shut down the Ti, hook it up to your PM using a FireWire cable, then hold the T key on the Ti during start up. A FireWire logo will appear on the Ti's screen, and the hard drive will appear on your PM's desktop. Good luck.

Carbon Copy Cloner is absolutely worth the money (donation-ware)! I've used it several times and it's never failed me. Get it, try it and love it!
