Yo Yo
Does this mean the CD is copyright protected or something (it was on /. a while back and how Celeino Denions only fans were Mac Users ).
Its not like a DVD thats from another region, even if you change system prefrences to do nothing when a Audio CD is inserted it still spits it out!!!!
Is there any way I can get this music onto my computer? CD = Lady Sings the Blues (not my music of couce however my parents bought it and they don't want to returen it )

There's an easy way to see if the CD is copy-protected. Check the Jewel-case (or the liner notes). If you don't see a (CD-ROM) logo then it is most definetly encrypted or copy protected. It has to have that black and white logo to be an actual CD-Rom (the copy protected ones are actually a pseudo-propietary format)

This has kind of happened to me too before, but after I installed the update 10.2.5, all my problems are now gone. But... might be a different story for you.

Did you check? Does it say "Cd-ROM" if not, then I would say search google for the celine dion resolution. I remember reading somewhere (don't quote me on this) that you can use a sharpie to mark out the very inside of the CD (that's where the copy protection is). I would check google-- alot of people posted work arounds when this first happened.

Happened to me, too. I bought 2 new CDs and neither would play in the PB17. I called Apple support and they suggested it was a copy protection issue.
I then put them into my old Dell laptop and burned MP3s without difficulty. So this is a Mac problem.
I'm currently running 10.2.5, and they still automatically eject.

That is really strange that It would work in your old Dell.
It is not a Mac specific problem, doesn't work on my dads Dell Laptop or my brothers school computer.

It does say Compact Disc on it, but nothing about CD-ROM, I can't see the little strip on the inside were the bitrate looks different to the human eye.
If it were mine I would return it.

No idea. I would return it too but as you say, it's not yours... so I guess you're SOL. Just goto a friend's house and burn it.

My PowerBook just started doing the same thing. I don't think it's a copyright thing... I think the CD drive is going bad. I read a couple posts about it on the Apple KB site but I can't find it again. It's happened to me with blank CD's, new CD's CD's I've had for awhile -
The CD either goes in and comes right back out, goes in and tries to spin up, and the comes out, or doesn't come out until I restart it.
So who knows. Any ideas as to how much it costs to have the drive replaced? I'm thinking of getting an external firewire burner anyway so I may not get it replaced. We'll see.

Is it under AppleCare? If so, just call them.
