I'm in your same position - I think im leaning towards the Spire bags (its a bit expensive though - but I figure its a bag you could use for a while) http://www.spireusa.com

I bought a Kensington Saddlbag (with an Apple logo stitched on it) and it's amazing. It gulps down soo much stuff and I can carry it in 3 diffrent ways (handle, backstraps and shoulderstrap). I love it!

Too bad my 17" hangs about 2 inches out of the pocket.

I only looked at one bag really before buying - and thats the SportFolio, but I love it!

It's a very minimalist bag - which is what I prefer - just like the design of the PB. I can put a mouse, the adapter and papers in the bag no problem. If I need to carry more stuff, I put it inside another bag - many times a backback. This way I can bike with it, I can walk through not so nice neighbourhoods, and not have to worry as much about putting my bag down for a minute (although I still watch it like a hawk no matter where it is)

It's got some padding - it's neoprene so I think its waterproof - the shoulder strap is real comfortable, and it even comes off when I want to put it in other bags. I'm really happy with it.

That bag looks like it's a good deal. Is it awkward to carry on your back though, or does that feel fine?

I'm also considering the Brenthaven Mobility Backpack (also sold in Apple retail outlets) and this bag from High Sierra Sport Co.:

Oh, also, how many books / notebooks can you fit in there along with your Powerbook?

RGB, it feels fine to carry on my back, you can adjust the straps to fit. In the winter I can be pretty bundled up as well. Seem to be pretty ok balanced.

You can fit two laptops in there no problem! Although I only have one...

Welcome back, CyberPet.

I'd really love that too, but my 17" PB doesn't fit in. Carry it in 4 different ways is really nice.

I have the 15" Brenthaven bag, and am quite pleased by the protection it offers the powerbook, as well as the space for everything: cords, palm, papers, books, etc. My only complaint is the oddly placed clips for the sholder strap kind of get in the way when opening the bag, but it does offer more support than other shoulder bags I've used.

Check eBay, I bought mine for about $70 brand-new.
