I've got a 12" with 640mb of Ram. Brand spankin new. Problem is, when I have it hooked up to an external display (namely an Apple Studio Display-- not the flatscreens) I can't really (usably) play DivX movies. I've tried using VLC and MPlayer, both are noticeably skippy. I can see the chopiness, and when checking MPlayer's "statistics" screen, it reports lots of dropped frames.

I'm playing the movies off the internal HardDrive with no other applications running. Any suggestions on getting my movies to play smoothly??
