Hey people. My friend just got a 17" PB and is asking me about the AE base station. It seems to only have 1 Ethernet port on the back (and one for the external connection of course). The docs on the site say that this is how you can plug in your printer. My question is does this port also function as a normal port for a DHCP net connection via NAT? He has a PC but only 1 internet jack in the wall (dorm), so I am trying to see if he can plug in his AE base station into the wall, then plug his PC into the 1 port and get an IP via DHCP; then his 17" PB and printer can work over AE. Please advise.

Thanks!

there is a usb port on the back of the basestation in which you can plug in a printer and share it.

does this answer your question?

my situation at home is such: cable modem to base station, base station to hub and 3 windows pcs off the hub getting an IP from the base station dhcp. my iBook get's it ip from the basestaion wirelessly. i print to a shared printer on the XP computer.

No, my question is can the PC get an IP from the 1 ethernet port on the base station? However I believe you answered that question when you mentioned that you connected a hub to the base station and got IP's via DHCP through the base station.

Thanks!

As already stated the USB port is for the printer.

As far as the LAN port, there is no problem plugging a hub into that, so you can have loads of computers going through that. It'll do NAT just like it does over airport.
