ok this was probably me but earlier i closed my iBook the way i always did so wat would you expect it goes to sleep right... wrong it stayed awake running software update for a few hours and when i just got it out it was hot (enclosed space in the bag) and had frozen (not a proper crash)so i restarted it and it is now running like a 233 128 mb ram not the 800 640 that it is has anyone had this problem or is it just me?? any help is welcome

I think when the system is running software update, it won't let you put it to sleep (I've never tried, but it would make sense, Apple wouldn't want you interrupting the update). As for it being slow, it's probably overheated. Turn it off and let it cool down first. Since it was running closed in your bag, it probably got way too hot.
