How to 'reset'/reformat Powerbook

Not that I feel the dire need to, but as this is my first venture into the Apple world in over 15 years, I am curious as to what I would do to get my Powebook (17") to the same status it came from the factory.

In Windows, I would put the OS cd in the drive, re-boot to that disc, then re-format & re-install.

How is this handled with OS X?

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure it's the same for Macs. Just pop in the restore CD or DVD, erase, and reinstall. I think...

So the Powerbook will attempt to boot to the optical drive before the hard drive?

Put install CD
Reboot while pressing D key (computer will boot from the CD)
Open disk utility and follow instructions..
Powerbook 1.67ghz 15" (100GB HD, 128MB VRAM, 1.5GB RAM)

Isn't it reboot while holding 'C' ?
