Hi All,

After surfing the boards and browsing the Apple Store at Wellington Mall for the past weeks, I finally succumbed to my natural compulsion to buy new Apple products and picked myself up a new PB 17". What closed the deal? Well, apparently a Switcher had software issues and returned this unit, paid the 10% restocking fee, and purchased a new 17". Guess who got to inspect the 9 day old machine before he bought it for 10% off? That's right! Me! Guess who just sold his PB/667 DVI for $1,500? That's right, Me!

Now that I have had the unit for a couple of days, I can say that this was the best decision. I was originally going to wait for the 15.2", but given this opportunity, I couldn't pass it by. The Big Al is big, but not cumbersome, and the screen is fantastic. I could not see myself going back to a smaller screen.

I am flying to NY this weekend so I will see how well it travels. I still need to buy a case and I am leaning towards the ones Apple is selling given that they are competitively priced.

Anyway, that's all for now!

Wow, you got yourself a great deal!!!

I hope you enjoy the 17"! I know I do, I'm thrilled with it, and I've already traveled with it numerous times and it's only proven to be a pleasant experience.

And I'd *highly* recommend that bag you're eyeing on Apple's site made specifically for the 17" PB. I wrote up an extensive review on it and had it published at the PowerBook Zone, and you can check that out here: Click HERE

If you do decide to go w/ this bag, however, don't buy it from Apple.com. Rather, get it from MacConnection for only $119.

Good luck w/ your new Mac!

" I just bought BigAl for $2,969!"

lmao. I think that's a very slick nickname for the 17" PowerBook.

I bought a Tom Bihn Monolith sleeve and had an old back pack lying around, so I use that. The Tom Bihn sleve fits perfectly in the back pack. Works perfect and saves bookoo bucks.
